Jim Iyke’s Album Launch, Disappointing!

Yes it is true, the Nollywood movie star Jim Iyke has entered into the music industry with the launch of his album. The events that took place at the launch weren’t exactly as ‘exciting’ as was promoted but completely disappointing and almost verging on embarassing for the star.

The album launch should have been like a rocket launcher shooting Iyke into the music industry at full speed but instead the event put together by Accra TV station began two hours late and had noticeable flaws.

Jim Iyke is an extremely popular Nollywood actor, one of Nigeria’s favourites. He plays in versatile roles exhibiting his acting skills from bully to bad boy. Who knew this versatility stretched to music, but apparently it does. Iyke said, “I have been a ghost writer for sometime and I will surely be a great artist!”

His album ‘Who Am I’ has taken 3 years to complete and boasts some of the finest producers from Brooklyn where some tracks were recorded. 2Face and Ghanaian Hip-Hop group Dem Boyz feature on the album to help create some of the R&B and Hip-Hop sounds. The inspiration behind his lyrics are the life experiences from his early years through to his current stardom. He also said how the album is a way of showing appreciation and rewarding his fans.

Back to the actual launch, when it eventually went underway it was time for Iyke to perform at the Silver Bird cinema. Everyone waited anxiously to see the new musical artiste side to Jim which never happened due to technical faults. The song played ready for his performance and then the mics failed.

Disappointed Iyke and by that time fans, he mimed the song but tried to bring the show back with his hype men and well known acting skills.
